He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.

Information on the Devastating Shooting

Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Vigils across the state have taken place in their remembrance.

Presidential Invitation

The president explained he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump addressed journalists. “And likewise with him, recover or not.”

Community Response

Attendees came together over the weekend at the high school in the state to honor Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the state guard as part of Trump’s government program to assist public safety in the capital.

Remembering the Soldier

“She was the type of pupil that educators hoped for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” the principal, the principal of her previous school, told the media. “She was caring, considerate and always eager to support those in need.”

Funeral arrangements for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Actions and Policy Changes

Officials have accused a 29-year-old suspect with one count of homicide and charges of attempted murder while armed.

The incident caused the government to pause asylum applications and temporarily stop granting entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.

Condition of the Airman

The airman, a resident of the city, started his military career in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, according to the Associated Press.

He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor the governor said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she planned to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Impact of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had bravery,” he told the audience at the vigil. “Though her life was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
