Soccer Expert Sutton Battles Artist Murs in Top Flight Predictions

The Gunners' ten-match winning run came to an end by Sunderland prior to the international break, but can the English top division leaders recover against north London rivals Spurs this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," stated football expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this term, versus AI, readers and a range of guests.

For the twelfth round, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

The singer's latest album, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.

Football and Parenting Experiences

Olly is a talented footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a star of several charity football games down the years - but he is not intending a serious comeback as a player.

"{I actually played in a charity match the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "The team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or son decides to play instead."

Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have two children, Madison and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their manager.

"I won't force football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their weekend soccer side," he added.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a while too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He coached our side for several years and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Forecasts

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues may have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's comeback from fitness issues but their attack is now stronger with Pedro and Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this game will be quite tight, though. Burnley are well organised and their sole home losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

This suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to choose Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

The singer's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, the Hammers secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.

The Hammers' only away win this season came at Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was previously Forest manager.

So, what exactly do I go with here - can West Ham extending their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I will choose the Cherries, because I think what happened against Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

Olly's outlook: The home team are doing well but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign began, but they have surprised a few observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three in their last four matches.

A family member told me to get Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will probably score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support Brentford at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had great success on the travel this term, and the Seagulls are always strong at home. The visitors will try to hit them on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's team pose much more of a danger.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

The singer's prediction: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a many scores but it in reality proves to be quite tight. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge game for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six matches.

They have have plenty of quality in their team but it still feels like they could be dragged into a relegation battle.

Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.

The away side's display in the two-all draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not witnessed anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this season, and they were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they defeated Chelsea at the end of October.

However I am not going to do that. Instead, I really need to continue going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their positive outcomes because they evidently love to prove me wrong.

Considering Fulham's home record, the sole side they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be absolutely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.

The expert's prediction: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I'm aware the visitors are doing well and also that Fulham are on a bad streak... but Fulham have still been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard one to call. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but might they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
