During a dominant performance, England clinched another victory against Albania, featuring a number of squad members turning in standout displays throughout the game.

First-choice XI

Dean Henderson Was rarely tested required in the first half but then tested from Arbër Hoxha’s bent shot. A sliding challenge against an Albanian attacker highlighted sharp anticipation. 6/10

The debutant Challenged by the opposition's biggest threat through their forward. Started more centrally early on then shifted wider once Saka came on. Seven

The defender Moved up the pitch on the ball, as he has done previously. Sometimes seemed hesitant in possession with the experiment discontinued after the break. 6/10

Dan Burn A constant threat on corners and free-kicks, as always, but may be a replacement to Stones in the backline instead of alongside him. One wayward distribution after the break nearly resulted in the first goal for the visitors. 6/10

The young full-back Another confident performance from the rising star following his initial appearance against Serbia. A teammate failed to make the most of an exquisite touch over the Albania defence. His position is his to lose at this stage. 7

Adam Wharton A debut start in an England shirt. Somewhat loose on the ball but his dangerous set-pieces were a threat. An effective game manager available to the boss to call upon against sides that sit back. Cautioned after a reckless foul. 6

Declan Rice Crosses from dead balls and set-plays caused problems. Was given license to move down the left flank yet found himself in an offside position as the pass came in front of goal. Awarded a deserved rest on the hour mark. 6

Jude Bellingham Functioned in an advanced role on the right while also put in defensive duties. Displayed glimpses of brilliance but scuffed an attempt high. Withdrawn towards the end by a teammate, his rival, following a yellow card. 7

The winger Was presented with the team's top opening in the opening period, his shot smartly stopped from Thomas Strakosha. As Quansah holding position, it fell to him to provide width down the right side although his balls from the touchline were hit and miss. Taken off with 15 to go. 6

The captain The match-winner with his 77th and 78th finishes in an England shirt. His first a classic close-range tap-in while the second a superb header following a clever run from his marker. Now 32, he’s only getting better and England stand a real opportunity next summer with him leading the line. 8

The attacker Struggled to make an impact out wide. Was presented with a decent opportunity when set up by the midfielder however the keeper denied him. His replacement produced a bigger effect when substituted. 5/10
