Week 10 once more provided excitement, with a huge upset for the Bills demonstrating the 'any given Sunday' mantra that attracts so many people into the National Football League
That result may have opened things up for the New England Patriots to creep back into a leading position they formerly held, with a schedule that provides them an advantage over their 8-2 competitors
Over in the National Football Conference the Seahawks and Rams had perfect results to set up a monster clash in week 11, while our player of the week is chasing records as well as the Most Valuable Player award
Analysis - Simply an Off Day for the Bills?
Could it simply have been an emotional comedown from defeating Kansas City the previous week or a deeper issue? That's the question for the Buffalo team to address
The Buffalo squad had secured seven victories in a row against Miami but were second best from the beginning as the Dolphins ran out 30-13 winners in an eye-opening outcome - and display
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only got the team's initial first down in the third period and first points in the fourth - yes Miami had 10 days to get ready but it was still a massive egg laid by one of the NFL's best offenses
Dolphins quarterback Tua passed for two touchdowns but rusher Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 combined yards and two touchdowns
Bottling up the league's best running game was also key, with James Cook and company recording just eighty-six yards, their lowest of the year and slightly more than fifty percent their 161.5-yard average
Then there were the three crucial ball losses, and the two from Josh Allen specifically. An interception in the scoring area resulting in a nine-minute drive yielded no points, and his fourth-quarter dropped ball that the Dolphins converted to a touchdown just later
It was typical 'previous Bills teams' as they hurt themselves in the foot, falling into a hole on defense and Allen trying to do too much to dig his team from the situation - rather than the composed, disciplined, well-balanced Buffalo team we've seen this season
The Dolphins have served up a bit of everything this year so the jury's out on whether this is the start of a trend, but for Buffalo they'll require an instant response in a tough game against the Buccaneers next week as the Patriots are quietly moving into a nice lead at the summit of the American Football Conference East
In Focus - Patriots Identify Route to Unexpected First Place
Speaking of the Patriots, they're one of three eight and two teams in the league, all AFC sides, but could they be the best?
One could pick holes in the Patriots, Denver and the Colts actually for dominating the lesser sides, with only five of their combined 24 victories coming against opponents with a winning record - and one of those was the Indianapolis defeating the Broncos
Denver beat the champion Eagles in Philly and are kings of the fourth-quarter while Indy can ride Jonathan Taylor, but the Patriots including Sunday's win in Tampa to their prime time win in Buffalo appears to be a declaration
Their pair of losses occurred in recently appointed coach Vrabel's first three games, with seven consecutive wins, similar to the Broncos, since then - but defeating Baker Mayfield after the Buccaneers had a bye to get ready was significant
Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials won't go away, and he certainly earns point for bravery after taking some savage hits in Tampa Bay but persevering to guide his team to success
The defensive unit is solid and rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson exploded on Sunday with 147 rushing yards and two exhilerating touchdowns of 55 and 69 yards - becoming just the fifth ball carrier to break 22 miles per hour this season on his initial touchdown
Although you can debate who 'the best' is technically, the Patriots should be favorites to finish with the top record due to their schedule - which features just a single matchup against a winning team, albeit a significant contest against the Bills
Visiting Baltimore is also tough, but the Broncos have it more difficult in the AFC West with the Chiefs to face two times, the Los Angeles Chargers (who might also challenge for top seed but face the identical challenge) and also the Packers on the fixture list
The Indianapolis also play the Kansas City, and have the Seahawks, San Francisco and two matchups with the 5-4 Jacksonville to contend with. There is a considerable distance to travel but the door is available for a shock number one position in the American Football Conference
Coming Up - Rams & Seahawks Prepare for Next Week Clash
Both squads with strong arguments to be superior to all of the three eight and two sides are National Football Conference West rivals the Seattle and Los Angeles, who both put up forty points to go to 7-2 ahead of next week's major game between the two in LA
Both have won four in a consecutive games, have quarterbacks in Stafford and Darnold performing at an high standard (although Sam Darnold had ball security problems on Sunday) with top receivers, and defenses giving up under 20 points a contest
Each could easily be without a loss as well - especially the Los Angeles as their pair of losses occurred in overtime against the San Francisco and then that painful defeat in Philly when they had a game-winning field goal with the final play blocked and returned by the Eagles for a score
Seattle were also defeated to the 49ers, with a last-minute score in week one, before losing to the last kick of the game against the Tampa Bay - so they're genuinely two of the top teams in the NFL
The upcoming game on Sunday could be the best of the season so far
Top Performer - Taylor
Jonathan Taylor might be on for a historic year after his incredible display in Berlin - rushing for 244 rushing yards, scoring three touchdowns and contributing an additional 42 {receiving yards
